Watching people dressing up for zero degree is always fun. Especially when it’s fashion week (read: The Circus of Fashion) and all Fall/Winter collections you saw last season finally marched out in full force.
There’s a heavy trend of “Sports Luxe” (dah, Sports + Luxury) going on on the female Fashion Week runway since Spring 2012. Google told me that the trend has been there since forever, but it’s only coming into limelight when the giants put activewear-inspired looks alongside cocktail dresses and men’s suits on the recent runway.
I bought these handsome little things from Handsome Little Thing 2 weeks ago. “Handsome Little Thing” is a Malaysian DIY’er who creates handmade lapel pins.
I first got to know Jon about a year ago when I added him on Facebook. I was amazed by his passion and the road he has traveled before ending up as what he is today.
He was a Geoinformatics graduate (I bet you just hit Google to find out what “Geoinformatics” is) (ok, because I just did that aha), a marketer, a social media manager, and then a shoe designer. He’s particularly inspiring to me in someway because he hauled from Seremban, a city far away from KL but not too far away from where I came from.
Jonathan Wong is the founder and CEO of Z’NG, a Malaysian contemporary footwear label. And I’ve got to say, Jon is the most ambitious man I’ve ever met.
My eidetic memory of runway pictures (rather limited) reminds me of Jil Sander when I was looking at Zakwan Anuar‘s works. From a very bird’s-eye point of view (or a spaceship‘s-eye POV, because there was a lot of things that went into the creation and I think it would be unfair to summarise the whole effort in a mere few words), Sander and Anuar share similarity in the underlying minimalistic, “Less is Luxe” concept.
Zakwan Anuar Spring Summer 2014 collection was unveiled last week in KLPac, and we were there for the runway show.
